BMO Financial Group has a lengthy tradition of building strong and valued relationships with the communities where we do business. BMO takes this tradition to a new level with our Supporting Your Community program.
To respond to the fact that an increasing number of Canadians are also choosing to support local initiatives that make a difference, BMO Financial Group formed an alliance with Community Foundations of Canada and launched the Supporting Your Community program to make it easy for Canadians to contribute to causes that are important to them.
Community Foundations of Canada (CFC), the national membership organization of Canada’s 164 community foundations. BMO Financial Group is the first financial institution in Canada to form such a partnership with CFC. The Supporting Your Community program is the first and most widely available philanthropic program of its kind in Canada.
Community foundations are locally run public foundations that build and manage permanent, income-earning endowment funds to support charitable activities in a local area. They also work with the entire community, bringing people together from all sectors to identify and address local issues. The first community foundation was established in Winnipeg in 1921. Today, community foundations are one of the country‘s fastest-growing charitable movements.
